These workshops are designed to bring an array of policy, career, and business topics to light. This content will help you think about your next steps in life, whether that includes continued research, corporate roles, or entrepreneurship.
Led by Rana K. Gupta, BU’s Director of Faculty Entrepreneurship.
We'll talk about:
- Your research, ideas, and work, and how you might bring that idea to market.
- Where should you start? What do you need to know? How do you go about this business stuff?
- We'll put aside confusing business jargon and make the process of bringing an idea to market a little easier to understand.
What you’ll get:
- Exposure to people in various careers
- The “mechanics” basics of advancing research, ideas, technologies and products
- Tools to use as you embark on your personal path to impact, whatever that may be
Spring 2021 Topics:
- **CANCELLED* February 2: Incorporating: Don't let risk alone drive your decision. There are many business drivers to determine what sort of company you should create
- February 16: Innovation is a myth, or is it? Let's approach it like a verb rather than a noun.
- March 2: Put credit where credit's due: What is credit and how to manage it
- March 30: License to kill? No. License to launch your company? No. What IS a license anyway?
- April 13: Startup team? I'd rather be married (it's easier): The perils of a startup team
- April 27: "That is patently false." "I have patent leather shoes." Nope, neither of those uses are correct: What is a patent and do we use them properly?
